This is a neat little tip. If you are on the fence about your existing bank, The Bank of America has a Benjamin to try to convince you to switch, all you need is some patience.

Here’s the catches:

The account has to remain open for 50 days before they credit your account.
After approval, you will need to make a $25 deposit.
After the first two months, you need to make a least one deposit a month, otherwise they charge you $5.98 for hurting their feelings.

pfft, for what they will stiff you with in fees later on its not worth it, on the verge of dropping them as my primary checking as is because I’ve had about as much as I can take of their bull

Any better than US Bank? I’m so ready to drop them. They had a $5 “5 Star Guarantee” with things like no waiting more than 5min in line, ATMs always available, balance always correct…

After waiting in line at the drivethru for almost 20min w/ only 2 cars ahead of me, they appologized for the wait, I said it’s ok I get $5 right? “No, we discontinued that back in Feb” My reply, laughing, “I’ll bet I know why!” She did not look happy.

I have a few friends with Bank Atlantic (south/florida bank) that are very pleased, they are open 7 days a week and offer free checking and such… as far as national banks go, I have heard nothing but good from people with Wachovia accounts.

I used to bank with US Bank and hated them. Now I use Washington Mutual (which is available in states other than Washington, I’m told). I love them. If I can’t find a Wamu ATM (which is rare), they don’t charge me a fee for using someone else’s ATM (although the other bank still makes me grab my ankles).

I had a joint account with a friend of mine at BoA once. We put in $40 to start, but our project never took off, so that’s all we put in. About a year later, when we went in to close out the account, there was about $4 left in it. We asked for a complete transaction history, which showed no activity in over six months, but didn’t go back far enough to show our initial deposit. Bunch of fuckers, if you ask me.
