Decades ago, A Queensland member of parliament became Premier (partially) because he claimed he would convert all cars to run purely on water. There’s a lot of fud out there, and for some reason, Queenslanders run scared!

This article’s a little fishy (pardon the pun).
Fish frequently change physical sex based on water temperature, chemical makeup and a host of other factors. Changing of physical sex is a necessary and normal part of the fish life cycle for many species of fish.

On the other hand, changing physical sex based on chemical treatment is biologically impossible in people and there is absolutely no reason to believe that the effect on humans would bear any resemblance to that on fish.

SIngapore uses recycled water for industrial purposes and fresh water for consumption. And the sell some of it in bottles NEWater

Haha! UNEASYnews is close to home. Water’s a huge issue over here. We’re *scheduled to run out of fresh water in early 2008, so we have to decide whether to recycle or use nuclear power to generate water.

Mind you; Springborg does have a point. I read something late last year (don’t remember the source, but i’ll have a hunt around); where it was revealed that because of the high usage of ‘The Pill’ in San Fransisco, A species of alligator or crocodiles are borderline extinct because the ammount of oestrogen pumped into their habitat as a result of recycled/waste water and over time; the male crocodiles have gotten to a point where a large ammount of the males are no longer able to mate with the females, simply because the oestrogen has affected the size of their genatalia.

Maybe this seems to be a good opportunity to point out that here in Austria, we do _not_ have chlorinated water coming out of our faucets because we do have pretty good ground water because of less pollution.

In my experience, everyone who has to travel into a country where there is chlorinated water, thinks that this is quite disgusting and it seems to be a very polluted environment.

So maybe some readers here have to think over the definition of recycled water because people who have clean water in their faucets are thinking that chlorinated water is some kind of recycled too.

* Many species change sex based on environmental factors, as mentioned above. This well-documented fact was even mentioned in the movie “Jurassic Park”.

* Non-chlorinated and/or fluoridated water is often viewed as a sign of 3rd world upbringing. Having spent time both in and out of the US, drinking water in multiple countries and continents, I have to say I like the water here. Personal preference, I suppose, but my children don’t have any birth defects and my teeth are clean and healthy.

* Crackpots have theorized for years that the rising numbers of openly homosexual males is due to “the pill” being flushed instead of tossed. Here’s a little wakeup call: Every time a woman urinates she releases estrogen. And she has been since the dawn of (wo)man. I’m not exactly a scientist, but I can’t think of any evidence to support the theory.

The problem with the recycled sewage plant proposed for Toowoomba is that it just would not work.

It is not possible to produce 11,000 ML of recycled water from 8,000 ML of sewage. Toowoomba City Council also had nowhere for the RO waste stream to go. Acland Coal did not want it. Singapore pumps its RO waste stream into the sea.

The plant could never have been built for $68 million – closer to $150-200 million would be more accurate when you take into account the hundreds of acres of evaporation ponds required which were not included in the budget.

Regardless of your view on recycled water use, the no vote in Toowoomba was correct because the proposal was a dud.
