iTunes update converts video for iPod playback?

Emory emailed in with an interesting and much welcomed update to iTunes. Apparently, the recent iTunes update includes a feature to convert videos on the fly for iPod playback. Can anyone with an iPod video confirm or deny this update? (Unfortunately I do not have an iPod video to test.)

Its been there as a function for a while, a control-click on an MPEG or MOV file in your iTunes library gives the option to convert to iPod Video option in the first part of the contextual menu.

You gave one to steve for winning the buzz contest, I’m sure he’ll try it once he gets around to getting online again….

Ya, this feature has been implemented for a LOONG time.

Yeah i just tested to make sure… it doesn’t convert on the fly like it does for your photos. You can manually convert them though like said before.

I was wondering what all the “buzz” was about. I have been doing this with itunes for a while now. Maybe the “on the fly” is a feature for the new macbooks .

Yes, in fact i sent a tip to YOU, derek, telling of an itunes update eons ago that said this was implemented. what’s up with that?

i’ve tried it before the “update” came, and it made a music video just no sound, i dont know if its because im using windows perhaps, but function egzisted before

Justin, apparently the tip slipped my mind. Anything else you’d like to discuss in private should be done offline.

yup, steve (me) got a video ipod from you guys a few months back and i love it (thanks!)
anyway, if you right click on a video you input into iTunes you have the option to convert it to iPod video format. Ive done that with a few videos so far, it works, but i dont have too many videos on my iPod yet, i havent gotten around to putting Die Hard on it, i figure if i did that, id never look away from my iPod again, as id have the best movie ever made at my fingertips, but im lazy, and the battery would probably last through one viewing only….
