Gizmo to offer free calls indefinitely

I admit that despite having Gizmo installed on my old Windows computer, as well as recent Apple hardware, I soon had altogether forgotten about the free VoIP solution for PC-to-PC calling. Blame it on Skypes announcement that all outgoing calls int he United States and parts of Canada would be free through the end of the 2006 year. I can honestly say that it may be time to reconsider my VoIP habits to make use of the Gizmo [project].
When a user associates their home and mobile numbers with their Gizmo account, the system enables other Gizmo users to make outgoing calls to those numbers free of charge. The Gizmo web site further stipulates that the recipient of the call can’t just be a registered Gizmo user, but must actually use the service on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the site neglects to define “active” user with any meaningful level specificity. Calls to landlines not associated with an active Gizmo user account cost Gizmo’s standard rates. #
So what are you waiting for? Download the client, create your user profile, add your two most called numbers, pass the download link to all your contacts to do the same, and enjoy free calling to landlines & cell phones.
I would love to adopt Gizmo as my single solution for VoIP-to-landlines calls but convincing contacts to download a new application? That’s a whole different challenge in itself.
