Windows WGA to become mandatory?

Yesterday we showed you how to remove Windows WGA alerts. It is reported however the WGA seems to be part of Microsofts larger plan for Windows. [via]

Microsoft seems to be saying, and the latest rumor is that this fall Microsoft will make WGA mandatory on all Windows PCs, and what’s more, will introduce a “kill switch” for Windows that will cause the operating system to stop working if the currently optional anti-piracy ‘feature” isn’t installed.

Currently, Windows users have the ability to opt out of the Windows Genuine Advantage program and still get security patches and other Critical Updates delivered via Windows Update. The only thing you give up is the ability to download optional updates. Booooooo

They were bound to lock it up some time. It was getting to easy to get a pirated copy of windows. Oh well I’m sure most people out there are near corporations computer and some point, and all those computer *cough* dells *cough* have MS stickers with valid keys plastered on the side of them. Just write one down and then get a corporate copy of windows and bingo your in business. :-d

i not worry at all, i give this “switch” 5 days before someone hack it, and become more easily to download a update, of course i also dont worry because my last update was the Service Pack 1…

Wrong, everyone can get there updates right now..and mayeb a good idea to do so quickly.

Windows updates can still be gathered with (Firefox) from http://www.windizupdate.com

This also solves the proxy blues for those having the windows update lockout when using a proxy.

Hope this helps for a while.

Go to http://www.windizupdate.com

Get all your updates regardless of an WGA or proxy issue.

Microsoft is evil. Microsoft is the real-life Big Brother. Thank God there’s no WGA shit for Win98 or WinME.

Linux is really good. I’m using Xandros.
