Pay those tickets? Over my dead body!
Apparently there are now three ways to avoid having to pay any traffic tickets.
1) Drive in an orderly fashion and avoid getting one in the first place.
2) Get to know someone on the force, and ask him to “make them disappear”.
3) Fake own death!
Yes, that’s exactly what Kimberly Du from Iowa did. In order to avoid having to pay for the tickets, she sent her own fake obituary together with a letter telling the court she was dead. Ironically she claimed to have died in a traffic accident. The letter was forged to look as if it was signed by her mother.
The poor woman was found out after she was stopped for another traffic ticket, a month after she died. Her little stunt might have saved her a $500 fine, but she looks to getting a five-year prison term.
“The state still has to convince a jury of 12, but faking your own death is not a good idea,” said Bob Rigg, of the Drake Law Clinic.
I’ve got to try this one out someday. “I’m sorry, Chris can’t date you any longer. He got cramps while writing you a love letter and died…”
