NetZero offers free web based voicemail service

NetZeroVoice, an offshoot of the NetZero internet service, offers a free internet based telephone voicemail solution by the name of Privatephone. The private personalized number service assigns a free landline number to users which can then be handed out in public scenarios.

Voicemail messages can then be checked via the internet or via your handset by calling your personalized number and entering your admin credetials.

While the serivce is not at all mesmerizing (recall K7), I do believe that NetZero is making a great effort by providing this service free of charge.

Still interested? Check to see if a private number is available in your area. I just checked the 206 prefix and came up dry. This one would have been great to get into. You can never have too many dummy lines for handing out to “contacts”.

The Netzero product looks interesting. Now I can have a number look local when it isn’t.

Works for me,sad thing is that all those companys which do that (there is the AIM phonethingy also) don’t support costum introductions I think.I mean,I know many people in the US and would love to give them a number to call when they are drunk or stuff. And that I can’t have a costum introduction sucks ballllls. At least I don’t think I have, can’t call it.

I just checked out PrivatePhone. I just called my number, pressed *, entered my PIN and was able to record my own custom greeting. And, I got a cool number in NYC. AWESOME!

    CV – All I got for NYC was a 718. Too bad they don’t have a 917.
