It is really cool to have a remote control for your Mac, although it doesn’t do much except run FrontRow and set your Intel Mac’s boot drive.

Because of the remotes relative simplicity, it has been relegated to the bottom of my useless hardware pile. However I can now dust off the remote because a company called IOSpirit has developed a piece of software lets you use Apple’s Remote for additional features.

Remote Buddy lets your use your IR remote to control other software like PowerPoint and also be used as a virtual mouse. Let your little Apple IR Remote automate your life. Sells for €9.99 (Or $9,000 American at the current exchange rate The exchange rate thing was a joke – It is about $18 American :P)

    Besides, my MBP remote works fine for Keynote and iTunes without Frontrow running.

    ummm even though a correction ws mad you’re all fucking idiots if you think that 10 euro is 9,000 american. but does anybody know a way to program a specific remote to a specific computer?

    Yes:

    Hold the remote close to the computer (3 to 4 inches away) and point the remote at the front of the computer.

    Press and hold both the Menu and Next buttons on the remote until the paired-remote graphic appears on your screen (about 5 seconds).
