Cristal isn’t poppin’ anymore
Well damnit Frederic Rouzaud of Louis Roederer (maker of Cristal). The high end champagne maker just shot himself in the foot by motivating Jay-Z to boycott the bubbly beverage from hip-hop / rap videos & clubs.
Rappers have long proclaimed their love for Cristal, frequently mentioning the high-end champagne in songs and popping the corks of the clear, gold-labeled bottles in music videos and at nightclubs.
Multi-platinum rapper Jay-Z, now president and chief executive officer of Def Jam Records, has decided to boycott his once-beloved bubbly over comments from the managing director of the company that produces it.
Well since Jay-Z is boycotting it, Dan and I have agreed not to pour the sparkly magic at our next UNEASYsilence meetup (ergh whenever that is).
Despite whatever views Cristal makers may have concerning the music industry, the fact of the matter is that records sell. And with that comes sales on top of sales of Cristal. Hell, I bet some people drive hoopties to the club and still drink Cristal. It’s all about the bubbly! At $400 a pop, who really cares how the damn things are sold?
