What you don’t tell in your article is that he spends an hour on hold with Comcast, so he just falls asleep. It’s not like he is lazy or something, but one hour holding is rough :)

If technicians are made to wait an hour on hold, how long do the customers have to wait?

I waited for just over an hour and a half one time. I had the call on speakerphone and went on making lunch and doing laundry before the rep connected.

What you also don’t mention is how much he had been working, prior to this appointment. I hear that these techs have serious on-call schedules.

I install for dish–and as a self-employed contractor, you are wired to work fast and sleep when you can, contractors also tend to develop a pavlovic response to sitting still/sleeping,,,, my wife says i have a short attention span, but i cant sit on hold for more than about 90 seconds before i fall asleep. (I try to activate in my truck so as to not sleep on customers furniture)

look. i don’t care if he spent 5 hours on hold… i would have gotten more than the guys butt fired… i’d AT LEAST asked for 1 month free service for the inconvenience.
finally, with him sleeping in MY HOUSE… and on camera… i would have had to let him sleep for at least the hour… and helped him wake up…. firecrackers…. slam a door…. something…. that’s what the video is missing… i’d want to see the guy jump about 5 feet in the air…

give me a break ,if you are unhappy with the service that someone is provideing you in youre home grow a set and tell them. The person that filmed this should have woken the tech up and asked him to leave and called to complain to the office.I agree it may not be very profesional to fall asleep on the couch but who knows what the circumstances are, was he up all night with a sick child or repairing a cable outage so that you can watch the news in the morning.

i think you people should know that all techs are not lazy and unproductive. a lot of us take pride in our work and try to acheive a positive outcome for our customers. the problem is management and the way they “manage” . it becomes extremely aggravating when your trying to resolve a service issue. and you have to wait an hour or 2 to get through. you bring this to there attention and nothing gets done about it. remember 2 hours waiting to fix one problem is 2 hours that could be spent fixing someone elses . funny how quickly comcast resolved the issue after this happened. before that they could care less. and lets not forget we have to pin the whole thing on someone to appease the customer so why not fire the tech. you know, make things right again.if things were managed better maybe there wouldnt be 2 bad routers, long hold times, high prices, missed appointments, and someone would call you back if that is what you were told.

It’s a shame. It’s a shame that every time somebody has a problem with their Comcast services they want to take it out on the technician who comes out to their house. Most of the time the missed appointments are because the customer forgot they had an appointment or they wrote down the wrong information. Customers know that if they raise hell about it, Comcast will put them at the top of the list.
Techs also have to hear about high prices. Do you really believe techs control the price? Do you really think Comcast controls that? It’s called inflation. Everything goes up over time. Do you think Comcast still pays .99 per gallon of gas? No.
Long hold times. Techs still dont control that either. It’s the customers that control that. The customers that can’t figure out why their computers don’t work after they download so many viruses from the porn sites they are trying to go to.
And the broken routers, bull. I guess Comcast has some voodoo spell they put on his routers to make them break. Right.
So here’s the tech coming to the guys house, on time, trying to fix his modem and he wants to take it out on him. Rediculous.
