Get all you iTunes songs back – For free

As restrictive as the iTunes music store is, there is a secret policy in place that will allow you to re-download your entire purchase history in case anything happens to you music collection.

In the event this happens, simply email Apple’s iTunes support group and after a few days you will get the response:

In the event that a customers entire music library is lost, the iTunes Music Store does re-grant the purchases history. Please keep in mind that Apple does not offer protection against the loss of purchases, so this is a one-time exception.

    What happens next? Do you get a list of all your music, or do you have to find it all manually and “Get Song” for each? That’d be a real pain!

    Nope – You just go to “Check for purchased music” and it begins downloading.

    Keep in mind though this is a one time issue… but it’s the same proces if you had a purchase that failed to download.

    Whoah whoah whoah….you mean i get get back all those songs i got when the Pepsi promo (1-3 get a free song) was around? And I thought apple was filled with some of the most cold hearted employees in the computer industry…

    However…i seem to be running out of room to store my library….i mean, after 3 DVD-RWs, it get’s pretty annoying…

    I just looked on the website – as I have lost a bunch of my tunes – and it says “When you buy a song or album from the iTunes Music Store, you are entitled to download it only once.

    When you buy a song or album from the iTunes Music Store, you are entitled to download it a single time. If you want to download it again, you must purchase it again. You can copy downloaded songs between authorized computers.

    Important: Make a backup of the music files you download. In case of data loss, including hard drive failure or replacement, accidental deletion, and so forth, you’ll be able to restore it from the backup. See “iTunes 4: How to Back Up Music” for instructions.”

    Gonna try emailing them anyway…

    i managed to get away with it 2ice somehow….i definately lied and said a friend told me how to get it back……but i already did it once

    my hardrive crashed and i lost everything including my entire itunes library so this means i cannot get my music back?
