With the rising petrol prices, who can blame this woman for leaving her friend stranded high and dry?

A German woman left her friend as a deposit at a gas station because she did not have enough cash to pay for her gasoline, police said Wednesday.

“She didn’t have enough money to pay the bill, so her friend stayed behind as a human deposit while she went to withdraw cash,” said a spokesman for police in the southern town of Münchberg. “Unfortunately, the woman did not return.”

So let’s be honest, with the price of unleaded gasoline clipping $3.50 a gallon stateside, who would actually be willing to use a friend as a deposit in order to fetch some more money for the bill?

    This reminds me of a story in the news here in australia a year ago or so when a woman left her 4 year old behind as “a deposit” while she went home and got some money of her partner… she was charged by the police but unfortunatly people will continue to suprise me with thier stupidity…

    …wow, i feel like a stooge. once I had left my wallet at home and filled my tank, so left the attendant my $400 cell phone as a deposit. never occurred to me to use a body double.

    Try a pound a litre in the U.K. you would need 2 girlfriends as a deposit!
