Will someone let me practice LASIK?

This is scary – Do it yourself LASIK eye surgery. Yeah!

The key to the LASIK@Home system is the Scal-Palâ„¢ Scanning Adjusting Laparoscopic Personal Laser. This hand-operated combination femtosecond/excimer laser is made exclusively for LASIK@Home by Walton Group Manufacturing, the same company that makes the the LASIK equipment used by more clinics nationwide.

I don’t know about anyone else, but all I read was “cut your own eye with a spiffy looking hand tool”.

this has to be a belated april fools joke.

Much like the Memory stick for the brain. must be a joke.
Would be cool take it into uni and approach people with glasses asking if they would like a quick painless eye surgery. mmmm diazapam.

It’s pretty obvious that this is a hoax. First of all, the idea of home laser surgery is clearly insane. Second, the ordering form is broken, meaning you can’t buy the device, but the site does sell Cafepress t-shirts! (T-shirt sales are always a reliable hoax indicator.) Third, google ads on a supposedly commercial site are another hoax giveaway. The domain was registered anonymously via domains by proxy, so I wasn’t able to find out who the author of this is.

    Totally SCAM!

Just by looking at the website design and the ads on the site, I’m so sure it’s just another money-sucking scam!

I’ve done professional LASIK surgery in clinics, and it’s never that easy.

Plus, they use crappy cartoon drawings to illustrate how it works? What the h**l is that? Nobody would ever show such critical procedures without real-life photos.

Hell! Hope there’re no fools believing in this hoax!

    Jake,

Please take note of Wingo’s last sentence.

Hoax is a perfectly good word to use for this example.
