This model build level is “Don’t even think about trying this”

Fully scratch built, this model took just over 15 years (8000-10,000 hours) to complete. Begun in Kiev (Ukraine), in 1986 this masterpiece was profoundly difficult to construct due to the extreme scarcity of information on it. In 1986 the Mil-24 was still a top secret piece of military equipment. A set of blueprints was ultimately obtained from the manufacturer and over 1000 photographs were used to ensure complete accuracy in the reproduction.

I used to build a few scale models back in my day. You know, the dinky little 1:32 scale snap-tite ones? Anyone else build any of those? The kind that came pre-painted and with the most challenging part being the rubber wheels that never seemed to slip on to the joints just right? Damn this Precise Modeling company – with their 1:32 scale Hind helicopter – for making me feel like my work was pointless.
