Apple unloads Mac Mini G4′s at Costco

Of all places, I’m not at all surprised to see Apple clearing out its inventory of G4 powered Mac Mini’s at Costco [Wholesaler]. They did it with iPods six months ago.

The $699 price tag gets consumers a 512Mb Mac Mini with a 80Gb hard drive, as well as a wireless keyboard and mouse, which originally weren’t included with the Mac Mini. It also comes with a three year warranty, where the Apple stores only offers 90 days.

Not too shabby a deal. 3 year warranty versus Apple’s 90 days. Read more on Silicon Valley Sleuth. Still no sign of the Mini’s on Costco.com at the time of posting.

I need a new computer although I dont want the intel mac just because of photshop is not out for intel macs. I am still using an old Power Mac G4 400 Mhz, I will be buying a PPC mac mini sometime soon before they run out. then when Photoshop comes out for the Intel Mac’s then I will buy an Intel Mac.

Yeah, I remember seeing it there a few weeks ago when looking for Spinach Dip.

FernyB, You may notice that Photoshop will actually run faster through Rosetta on an Intel Core Duo Processor than on your G4 400Mhz. A lot of people actually believe that running Photoshop (PowerPC) on an Intel MacBook or iMac is a lot like running it on a G4 Mac Mini or G4 iBook.

You may have better luck/power/efficiency/balance in your bank account if you go for an Intel one straight away.

Hope this helps in some way, Cheers.
