Hmmm, strange. Does anyone else think that Apple delayed this on purpose, it seems as if they could have easily done this. . .

i don’t think apple “delayed” the release. my take is that apple was working on this from the start [search for our post on apple joining bapco]. the fact that apple fans had taken it upon themselves to hack mactels to run windows was proof for apple that they should indeed continue development in order to release a package as near to complete as possible. from a marketing standpoint, this is a very smart move on apple’s part. windows users can now switch knowing that at any moment they can get their load of windows without having to power up a different computer.

users need to understand that although your apple hardware is running windows, it’s still susceptible to the usual virus’, spyware, adware, etc.. just in a shinier box.

Think it will soon be possible to run OS X on a PC? I would hope Microsoft does this so that I can run os x easily till i get my mac!

i think i’d have a better chance of growing a giant bean stalk to a magic castle in the clouds before ms ever supports dual booting osx.

This is brilliant. Just in case anyone hadn’t noticed. Apple also has a patent for a kind of ‘fast user switching’ between Operating Systems. We should see this in leopard IMHO.

Oh and I work in an apple store, We tried this today. It’s so sweet. Useful for games I guess…. And running PS natively until its relessed for OSX Intel

I think if anyone will allow os x to run alongside xp on a pc, it will be mac. And they should!

They didn’t delayed it, the thing is that they maybe they justwaited for the community to develop the whole stuff (onmac.net) then just add the dual booting to it

It works! I’ve loaded it and works like a charm…. I’m installing it again trying to make a bigger windows partition so i can use partition magic to create a FAT32 partition so i can share data between both operating systems..

Has anyone run benchmark tests with XP running on a MacBook Pro yet..? I want to get this to be able to run SolidWorks, but I need to know it’s going to perform OK.

Is it just me or does Vista look a lot like Mac OS X? Well lets take a step back and think why. When Steve Jobs came back to Apple, it is rumored that he took a visit to see Good ‘ol Bill.

Imagine their conversation, Steve tells Bill they are going to launch with Intel based macs. Bill gets excited because now he can use the beauty and power of a mac with his OS. Bill wants in more on the Apple market, Steve wants in more on the Windows market so they both come to an agreement. Steve says he’ll build the machines that will come with their OS BUT allow for a dual boot. The catch is this: For a user to use a Mac they have to buy the machine, but to boot with Windows they need to buy the Windows OS.

Now Steve is selling his OS and Machine to the Windows market and Bill is selling his OS making even more money.

What do we get, a pretty machine that allows us to play kick ass video games and 2 operating systems that look pretty much the same and function the same way. Giving us a near seemless transition between the two allowing for better usability.

Makes sense? Does to me.
