Get a credit card using torn up application

I am a rather paranoid person. I had one of the straight cut paper shredders when consumer shredders came out, and had it replaced when it became obvious that it is easy to find out information from shredded items, since the pieces of paper can easily be taped together. But I guess there is security in nothing:

From the site:
I wasn’t sure if just tearing a Credit Card application into tiny bits was good enough to prevent dumpster-diving theft, so I did a test.

I tore one up, then taped it back together again, filled it out with a DIFFERENT address and CELL number.

Sure enough, in four weeks I was rewarded with a shiny new card with a $5,000 limit.

Now I guess I’ll go buy a shredder with this card.

someone needs draw a big VOID THIS over the entire application, shred, and then tape back together before sending in. Let’s see what happens with that.

I don’t know how much this proves–there’s probably a lot of different things going on here, and a lot of different factors. One lone result doesn’t tell us much. Very interesting though.
