Be your own iTunes Publisher

iTunes: Music store for the rest of us. Apple has gone to some significant lengths to make it impossible for the individual small artist to get his or her work published on iTunes. And even if the publisher finds a service to publish them on iTunes, the distributor asks the individual to give up too many rights. TuneCore fixes that.

TuneCore is a music delivery and distribution service that gets music you created (even cover versions) up for sale on iTunes and Rhapsody without asking for your rights or taking any money from the sale or use of your music.

You get 100% of what iTunes and Rhapsody pay. We take nothing, all the money goes to you. You keep ALL the rights and ownership of your music and master recordings. TuneCore is non-exclusive, so you’re never locked in.

I was reading the TOS, it it doesn’t mention anything against spoken word, so essentially you can use this method to charge for your podcast. Interesting? I think so!

Try It

So how does TuneCore live if they don’t charge anything?

This is interesting. I hope that it doesn’t flood iTunes with a bunch of crap thus making it impossible to find the good stuff but I am glad to see that small artists can get some visability.

I’ve been waiting for something like this. Especially after submitting to Apple and waiting 10 months only to get rejected to sell directly through iTunes.
