Unintentional Branding

This one comes from down under:

Television cricket and tennis coverage is making a lasting impression on plasma screens.

The logos used by Channel 7 and Channel 9 during long days of sporting action are burning themselves into the delicate digital monitors.
With the hi-tech TVs costing thousands of dollars, some owners have threatened legal action saying their screens have been ruined.

I would be TOTALLY pissed if that happened to my flat screen TV. I think companies should be held liable if they ruin your set all in the name of branding.

It should be the manufacturers that are liable, their product is faulty. No other type of television has a burn in problem like plasmas, so maby the consumers should turn off their expensive tv’s and turn on their brains. Information about residual images/ghosting/burning in, is widely available, and if the consumers did ANY research into the product they bought, then we wouldn’t be seeing more frivolous lawsuits.

So if you’re the type to sit infront of your tv watching the same thing for more than 10 hours, not only do you need another type of tv, but maby picking up a brain at the electronics store would be a good idea too.

The burn-in problem is one of the reasons that plasma displays are not used on computers. After getting used to good computer displays, these expensive televisions don’t seem so good. The red, green, and blue segments on the screens are huge.

Just remember guys, don’t leave the porn paused to long of the wifey will know what you’ve been doing

Have some fun and save loads of cash by making your own video projector. The insides of a 15″ TFT display stuck on an old overhead projector can compete with $1500 projectors. Just make sure there’s a fan to keep the display from getting too hot.

I hope Apple gets their Intel version of the Mac mini done and shipping soon. Then it’s make a nice little HD platform (able to do 1080p easily). The G4 should be nearly maxed out at 720p. Of course mileage depends of what video codecs you use.
