Toy Story 3 cancelled?!

What the heck is going on here? After the recent announcment of the Pixar acquisition by Disney, I’ve just discovered that Toy Story 3 has been cancelled?!

According to a poster at Animation Nation, Catmull and Lasseter “announced to Feature Animation employees [Tuesday] that the ‘Toy Story 3′ production will end effectively [Tuesday]. They said that sequels should only be made if there is a really great story that demands it, and should be the domain of those who created the original film.”

Considering Toy Story was the first Pixar animation that I could ever recall seeing, it is quite disappointing to hear that the project has been slashed. Damn. And Buzz Lightyear was supposed to be recalled to Taiwan for “malfunctions”.

    That’s an ABUSE from Disney!!!!
    When they bought Pixar, they were suposed to get things beter, not to f**c it all!
    I don’t know even a single person that hanven’t seen any toy story movie in their life….
    Ridiculous.

    It’s possible that they withdrew it because it was gonna suck, and Disney was forcing Pixar into it, but now that Pixar has say over the matter they pulled back before they had a chance to create another “Snow white and the 8 dwarves: the queen’s revenge”

    I don’t know for sure, but I believe that Toy Story 3 was actually being produced by Disney’s CGI studios and NOT Pixar. Don’t forget, Disney was the one that had the reproduction rights on all of the films they went hand-and-hand on with Pixar.

    That was a disney flick, not a pixar one. They were making it without the guys from pixar so this is a GOOD thing.

    Yeah, It’s defenitly a good thing it got canceled. This was going to be an only-Disney production without the original makers. If Steve Jobs hadn’t taken control over the situation, I bet Disney would have carried on making Toy Story 3, 4, 5, 6…. We know these guys ran out of good material a while ago.
