Restaurant Sued For Playing Copyrighted Music

It seems as if we have reached a new low:

A Fresno restaurant is being sued in federal court by a group representing songwriters for playing tunes written by Van Morrison, Dwight Yoakam and others without a license.

    Eh. It’s not like they didn’t warn them. They could have easily either payed the fee that every other restaurant has to pay, or just stop playing the songs.

    This is why you either play the radio or pay for muzak or a cable music service, no fees like you have to pay if you’re playing music from CD’s etc.

    This is nothing new, businesses have been fined for this before the internet got and online “piracy” got popular.

    posted here. i thought that was ridiculously stupid as well. that’s probably why restaurants make their own suck ass renditions.
