Flickrbox – Greasemonkey script utilizing lightbox.js

Always one to look out for amazing, productive, or downright entertaining browsing “addons”, I just caught wind of Flickrbox by Gavin Montague. The userscript makes use of the fantastic lightbox.js script originally created by Lokesh Dhakar.

It is somewhat challenging to describe what the lightbox.js script and Flickrbox userscript offer. Instead of opening linked images in a new window, the script calls the image and displays the full preview in your current window using a clean transparent overlay. The standalone lightbox.js script works on almost all browsers. The Flickrbox builds off lightbox.js and provides Flickr users with a means of previewing images without actually navigating to a new screen. Watch the demo for yourself.

As with any Greasemonkey userscripts, Firefox and the Greasemonkey extension are required.
