Chatsum – Open pages for discussion
Chatsum recently provided its beta users with a registration and download link to the Chatsum Firefox extension (Firefox 1.5+ required). The extension provides users with a simple sidebar which serves as a “chat window” allowing any Chatsum users to discuss their currently viewed website.

While the idea of socializing the web is no new feat, Chatsum provides an intuitive, simple, and attractive interface for communicating with other like minded individuals. Debate the current political piece, vent your frustration regarding last nights game on ESPN.com, or start the extension on a random page to chat with random strangers while aimlessly browsing the web.
The Chatsum sidebar resembles your standard chatroom window. Seamless integration between the Firefox browser and Chatsum is evident as switching tabs automatically refreshes the chat window to reflect your currently viewed page.
The Chatsum interface provides two tabs along the top of the sidebar: ‘Site’ and ‘Page’. Selecting the ‘Site’ tab allows users to chat with anyone viewing the main domain. Selecting the ‘Page’ view allows users viewing a specific webpage an area to drill down to a specific page. The bulk of the window serves as the chat view followed by the text input for submitting comments and a display for the number of active users.
