Window Live Local launched

I’m not going to highlight too any new features. If you’re really interested in catching up on the hoopla behind Microsofts new Windows Live Local, check out what everyone else is saying around the net.

The only feature that caught my attention – as well as the attention of others, is the “Birds Eye View” which includes incredibly detailed images of businesses and local addresses.

Try It

    Wow… it works with Firefox… I’m suprised.

high resolution? it’s the same as google… probably the same data source.

the zoom in capiblity is not very smooth… and it’s not as fast as google’s map.

I’m wondering what the bugs are… as Micro$oft can’t seem to release anything without problems

same as google. last i checked the online google sat images were nothing compared to the ones on windows live local. try zooming in when viewing the birds eye view. (click the larger building in the left menu).

Try it for yourself, open two browsers (I’m using firefox), one using Microsoft and the other Google Maps, then zoom in to the full detail, and look at the arrangment of cars. They are identical.

PS found my first bug with the Microsoft map product, if you zoom using the scroll wheel the page moves up and down depending the direction you scroll. I wonder what other issues there are.

roy the resolution is different. check the screenshots. first one is google maps zoomed (satellite) and the second is live local (birds eye).

    gmaps

    live

both screenshots were taken of the same address at full zoom.

When I click on a link for Local Live it takes me to the site and downlads but when it says it is done there is nothing but a blank page. I have tried doing it manual also with the same results. How can I get to this website so I can use the Local Live?
