Web 2.0 Validator : We’re the dot in Web 2.0

With all the hoopla about Web 2.0 this and that, it was only a matter of time before someone created a Web 2.0 validator. Kind of like a CSS Validator, but for websites that claim to be Web 2.0.

The beta validator runs a battery of tests using the source code of the inputed URL. Read more on “how” the validator goes about its business.

Try it out for yourself. Some of the criteria from which the validator checks are almost amusing: Is in public beta? Yes!, Is Shadows-aware ? No, Mentions Dave Legg ? No, and Mentions Cool Words ? No.

Not sure how accurate the service is, I could have sworn that Flickr was a bonafide Web 2.0 service but it scored a measly 3 out of 36.

Try It

I think it’s crap! Flickr, Tagworld, Tadalist, Plazo… all 3 of 36? Gave an error when I tried Gmail. Phoowy! :)

The Web 2.0 Validator does not lie, if Flickr only got 3 of 36, then they must have tricked you into thinking they are Web 2.0.

    :)
