Gmail Anti-Virus now standard

Everyone is blowing their Gmail horns about the lastest announcement. After a long winded new-feature-announcement-lacking past few months, Gmail has announced Anti-virus scanning for all incoming and outgoing emails to and from your personal Gmail accounts.

Possible sign that Gmail will allow it’s users to send “clean” .exe files to one another?

Who thinks Google could provide an excellent standalone desktop Anti-virus softare for pc users? I sure do.

now that an anti-virus is in place Gmail should really consider allowing users to send certain exe files. there are a lot of legit reasons why users might want to send exe files to themselves / friends / or family.

Come on, I can’t believe this. Just change the extension of the file (rename it from abc.exe to abc.abc, for example), and you can send it with any mail service

Google should definitely get into the Anti-Virus market. With the amount of the Internet they cover, they could find viruses just as fast as anyone else or even faster. Say bye-bye tp McAffee.

after having the anti-virus feature added to my account, i can honestly say that it manages to waste time for gmail users. not sure if anyone else notices these things, but clicking download on attachments activates the anti-virus scan which takes a few seconds. i noticed the scanning for all attachements which is a serious pain in the ass. the anti-virus should have an option for disabling when downloading attachemnts.
