NOPE! It’s not!
The BIGGEST shopping day of the year is, the last Saturday before Christmas, at least since 1995. There is one potential exception. When Christmas itself falls on a Sunday, the last Saturday before it obviously falls on Christmas Eve, and in that case (which last happened in 1994) the biggest shopping day was Friday the 23rd.
