Why pay to download video from iTunes, when you can get it for free

It is a rehash, but why would someone pay $1.99 for a music video, when you can download it for free?

Well, at posting this worked… Guess the fun is over, until we find a new way…

Well, you cannot download all the music videos… The Music Video store has a completely different selection and I am guessing is stored differently so you cannot get to it as easy.

For example Nine Inch Nails has a few videos on the paid Music Video store, that you cannot view on the free version of the iTunes Store. The new videos also have build in FairPlay DRM…

    Got something unexpected.

I demand you retract your statement because it does not work anymore.

I was downoading music videos and iTunes crashed-when I reopened it the music video link took me to the paid music videos and i can’t find the free ones. Also is it possible that iTunes could have some code built in causing it to crash when the store is changed like this?

yea, its official-Steve Jobs is a greedy bastard. A music video which i downloaded for free yesterday is now a $1.99. Well it was fun while it lasted, theres no way i’d pay for what is basically just a comercial for an artists’ new album-it’s called bittorent. Who wants to pay for DRM?

I’m going for a record lol 3rd post. If you’ve got the code the videos will still stream and download-could this mean that paid videos can be downloded free? heres the code to “since you been gone” i copied it before itunes crashed. try it yourself, paste it and get the URL and you should still be able to download it…

One positive thing from this- now vids have their own library in iTunes. And to boot, iTunes dug up preview images for all the vids I had imported prior to the update today. So now I have a pretty snappy looking video gallery.

That blows. I was downloading videos for about 20 minutes, then… NOTHIN’!

    Damn you Steve Jobs!!!!

  • mike

the videos will still download-you just can’t get the codes for them, if someone would release the links to the actual files not just a search converter thing…

  • Dan

    What was the code?

  • josh

i was able to get 12 vids the other day. and i almost deleted them.

  • justin

HAHAHA! I raided the US store for my favorite videos a few days ago, after missing out on the Yahoo videos…guess it’s good to put this site on RSS.

I’m not sure what the technical name for it would be but the “code” is what you got from iTunes when you right-clicked and went to “copy music store URL to clipboard” or something like that, i should have just said the URL. If you can get these you can still download/stream them without paying for them. I still had one on my clipboard and pasted it and i could still download it, even after the store was updated.

So all we need to do is find out hoe they code them. Maybe we can do this with the music too.

The script wasn’t designed to download content which you had to (a) be logged in to get or (b) pay for. The script was working fine with iTunes 6, it was the changes to iTMS that ended the fun. If you can get the content in iTunes without being logged in, we can probably figure out how to get it. There are other projects that strip DRM like hymn but even they don’t purpose downloading pay content for free. It’s probable that the script could be changed to download the previews, but really, what’s the point in that. The iTunes Movie Trailer script is still working as the links have not changed.
