Is it just me, or does the title “Gentleman’s” ball scratcher imply some sort of reasoning that it would be OK to whip this out in public and scratch away?

What probably would have made this item a little more useful is if the end contained some sort of writing device. If someone found your fancy looking box with a curious looking scratching instrument, you could play it off and say that you received the “pen” from a client.
