Del.icio.us turned two

Del.icio.us turned two yesterday. I can’t believe I missed the entry. I remember the first time I had heard of del.icio.us. I didn’t understand what the big deal was. So you add a few bookmarks, a few descriptive “tags”, and forget about what you’ve bookmarked. Oh how things have changed.

Not that I’m planning to move to a different social bookmarking service, but I came across Blinklist the other day. It’s the complete opposite of del.icio.us’ minimalistic interface. It’s loaded with AJAX goodness. I was tempted. I even went so far as to import my del.icio.us marks… I think I’ll mirror my marks. It’s always nice to have backups.

Blinklist is cool, but I am looking for something a little more specific.

I want something that:
- runs locally on your computer
- produces a RSS feed or some other kind of readable output
- is easy to add links to

Have any suggestions?

Do any scripting? I don’t know about Firefox, because it’s just bookmarks.html but I bet you could writ a PERL script and pulls stuff from the favorites from C:\Documents and settings\[username]\favorites\ and shove them in an xml?

Scripting? no, I don’t know much about that, but your idea is right on the mark!

@chrisSchaeffer: So you’re hoping to host your own bookmarks on your computer while being able to create a syndicated feed? I’m curious as to why you’re hesitant to use some sort of online social bookmarking service? Services like Blinklist do offer the option to keep your bookmark collection private.
