I don’t completely understand the whole Mactel thing. Are there new Macs that are already using Intel processors? I thought it was sometime in the future.

Someone hasn’t been staying up to date with some of the Apple news posted here. Basically MacTel refers to Apple computers running on Intel processors. MacTels are in the wild in the form of developer kits. The Mac Mini as well as the rest of the Apple lineup will slowly be released with Intel chips instead of IBM.

So, right now, any talk of a Mac running on an Intel is not referring to anything on the mainstream market. Ok. That clears things up. I didn’t realize there were developer kits with the Intel chips.
Derek
You can read up a little more about developer kits on Apple’s website here.
The mainstream MacTel rumors that have been going around refer the leaked x86 version of OSX supposedly floating around the net. There really isn’t a point in downloading one of these torrents with the hope of getting it running on your current Intel computer.
I say sit tight and wait for the official releases – Intel powered Apple computers – start hitting the market.

When’s that? (guess?)
Derek
Ergh I don’t have the kink bookmarked but I did read that we can expect the Mac Mini’s to be powered by Intel chips as early as January.
