How-To: iPod Shuffle Band-Aid

See the rest of the set including the finished ‘project’ on Flickr.
Right off the bat, I’m going to admit that using a custom case for your iPod Shuffle makes controlling the thing a little bit of a hassle. But who really needs access to the controls on a Shuffle? I think of it as a “set it and forget it” kind of player.
There’s not much to this tutorial. Go out and find a travel case of Band-Aids at your local drug store. Remove all the Band-Aids from the case except for two – which act as “padding” – from the bottom. Place your player inside and take note of where you should make your incision for the earphones. Use an exacto knife to carefully cut the plastic. Start will little incisions until the hole is large enough to accommodate the earphone jack. After you’re done, place the Shuffle inside and stuff one or two Band-Aids on top or on the sides to make sure it doesn’t slide around.
You’re probably asking why the Band-Aid case? Well, Shuffle listeners are usually pretty active. With this case, you don’t need to worry about finding a Band-Aid for times when you spazz out on the street while dancing or tripping over weights while gawking at that hottie on the stairmaster.
Total build cost: 99 cents + whatever you paid for the Shuffle (or other player).
Now all I need are a fancy schmancy pair of sound isolating earphones to block out annoying people. Ahem…
