Is Gmail blocking GreaseMonkey users?
Has anyone else running GreaseMonkey scripts in Gmail had their account suspended? I can’t believe Google would even fathom such an idea. GreaseMonkey scripts do not affect the Gmail service in any way. The scripts are run client-side and do not affect Gmail servers.
Check out the support email received by a suspended Gmail user:
Hello,
Our system has detected abnormal usage of your Gmail account. As a result, we have temporarily disabled access to this account.
It will take between one minute and 24 hours for you to regain access, depending on the behavior our system detected.
Your account may be temporarily disabled if, among other things, you are:
[...]
- using certain browser extensions that change the behavior of a website (GreaseMonkey, a popular Firefox extension, often interferes with Gmail. We suggest disabling GreaseMonkey to use Gmail without any issues.)
I’m still running the auto-delete userscript without any issues. Anyone else having problems?
