Google Earth launched

Google is continually improving it’s services. Google just announced the launch of it’s new 3D mapping service called ‘Google Earth’. Is there supposed to be some sort of underlying message? Is it eventually going to be Google’s Earth? Anyway, try the free software out for yourself.
Key features of Google Earth include:
· Free software download available at http://earth.google.com
· 3D buildings in major cities across the United States
· 3D terrain showing mountains, valleys, and canyons around the world
· Integrated Google Local search to find local information such as
hotels, restaurants, schools, parks, and transportation
· Fast, dynamic navigation
· Video playback of driving directions
· Tilt, rotate, and activate 3D terrain and buildings for a different
perspective on a location
· Easy creation and sharing of annotations among users
I’m seeing a lot of potential here. Why pay monthly subscriptions for in-car navigation when you can easily install a computer / laptop in your car, provide Internet access through your mobile handset, and run the free Google Earth software? Just make sure to click an Adsense ad now and then to keep the gears turning at the Google Labs (as if they really need the additional funds). Make sure you have a broadband connection since data is continually streamed to your computer.
