Nike iD blocks ‘Sweatshop’

Nike iD is a service provided by Nike allowing customers the ability to customize a one-off pair of sneakers. Jonah Peretti planned on ordering a pair of shoes from Nike iD with the word ‘Sweatshop’ embroidered on the heel. What ensued was a series of emails exchanged between Nike and Jonah concerning the order. By Nike’s standards, the word ‘Sweatshop’ is considered “inappropriate slang”. Riiight. By who’s standards? Bummer. I wasn’t even able to mock up a ‘Sweatshop’ special when I checked the site. They must have edited their filters.
