Motorized luggage?

Found this great little tidbit:

I’ve been traveling over the last couple days and just saw this “Why struggle with heavy baggage? Dragging suitcases through busy airport lounges is tedious, backbreaking work – but it doesn’t have to be that way”. Motorized luggage. I’ve found airports don’t like wires, batteries and motors built in to things that normally don’t have them, at least not my little projects. I’ve been thinking of building a suitcase that powers a WiFi finder when rolled (vibrates the stick, beeps or handle glows) but realized I’d have even more trouble with my bags.

    Dera Sir,
I am the inventor of live luggage and could not agree more with you about the bureaucracy of all airport authorities, but you can understand the reasons for these systems and for all our sakes we need to that make travelling risk free. If you check out our web site and read the technical spec section, you will see the motors are sealed in the actual wheels themselves. When the handle is in lock mode it completely isolates both the rechargable battery and the motors. In fact you have more chance of your electric toothbrush or razor being set off then this device. Its like anything new we all need time to adjust not many of us would go back to driving a car without power steering! or beating an egg with a fork. Travelling with 32kg is a pain especially for ladies this design (and not just the power wheels,) the handle is revolutionary and really helps moving your personal belongings.
The idea of power assisted suitcases has been around 20 years its only now that technology can be applied and make it viable from a weight perspective and ruggedness. After all – the world is not flat.
