Pre-2005 iBook/Powerbook users and integrated trackpad scrolling
As most people know Apple updated their powerbook line recently. The new powerbook line has a handful of new imrpoved features, one of which is the integrated trackpad scrolling. A much needed feature that Apple should have integrated into its systems years ago.
Just drag two fingers over the trackpad to scroll vertically, horizontally, or pan around any active window.
Most Apple iBook & Powerbook users have enjoyed integrated scrolling compliments of a small system preferences pane utility called SideTrack. If you check out the Raging Menace website I highly recommend MenuMeters which displays all sorts of info like network traffic, ram usage, and disk usage discretely in your menubar.
Back to the patch. There is no guarantee that it will work with your current system. There is a precompiled version available for download. For those familier with Xcode who wish to build from source, the option to download the source code is available. All compiling and building aside, SideTrack is the simple alternative to achieve intergrated scrolling on your Apple iBook & Powerbooks.
I tested this XY driver on my Powerbook which worked flawlessly. I have heard that some users are running into some minor issues while using the ALL driver. Until the minor glitches are ironed out, I’ll stick with SideTrack. Using the edges of the trackpad for scrolling seems a little more accurate right now.
